When Your Setback Sets You Up For An Epic Comeback

Maybe I'm the only one that has experienced this, but have y'all ever gone through a season in life where things are going so smooth? Your money is right! Bow! 💥 Your relationships are smooth! Bow! 💥💥 The promotions are coming and then BOOM 🤯 a big ol' set back that literally derails everything you had going!

Literally that seems like it should be the end of the story, right? No hope, no chance of anything good coming out of this. That's what most would think. But during my flight back from Ocho Rios a couple weeks ago, I learned something super powerful about our setbacks from the movie Mufasa. Which by the way, was so good! It had be on the edge of my seat. I was shocked that it has good suspense like that, haha.
If you haven't watch Mufasa yet and you don't like spoilers, please go watch it and come back to finish reading, lol.
So Mufasa got separated from his family and was taken in by Scar's family, but very reluctantly. BTW if you didn't watch the Lion King as a child Scar is the villan. Scar's dad was fearful that Mufasa who came from another pride would one day compete for and possibly take the role of pride leader from Scar. So Scar's dad banished Mufasa to live with the females.
I mean that kind of sucks, right? You are Mufasa; your name literally means king/ruler. And now you are banished to go be with the women?! But little did Mufasa no this great setback-- or so he thought it was-- was the biggest blessing of his life!
Lionesses are responsible for hunting. They develop a keen sense of animals from miles and miles away. So Mufasa ended up having an upper hand over Scar. Scar who didn't know how to do much of anything couldn't fight a fly if trouble came to his door. But Mufasa could pounce, run, chase, detect what animal and how many animals were approaching and how fast they were moving.
This gift was only able to be activated through his "punishment" of having to be with the women.
Mufasa eventually had an upper hand over Scar in all regards. A lioness, Sarabi, ended up joining the two of them, and Scar ended up falling for her. But since he was skill-less and hadn't really ever spent time with women he was awkward and couldn't hunt or catch prey or anything. On the other hand, Mufasa was real comfortable with women and could hunt, protect, and do all the things. So when the Sarabi was in danger Mufasa was able to protect her giving himself all the kudos and getting her to fall in love with him without him even trying, unlike Scar. Womp Womp.
Eventually, Mufasa ends up being the pride leader of a major territory called Milele.
So Mufasa's setback ended up getting him not only a wife, but also a high position in society. So what started out rough and looking like a big blow in life actually acted like a bow and arrow. The drawing back of the bowstring was essential for propelling him into his destiny.

So what you may be facing today, financial troubles, relational issues, challenges in the work place, health issues? Whatever the case may be, take it all in stride. And know that sometimes we have to face a little something, something to set us up for the success ahead!
Think about Joseph from the Bible (Genesis 37-50). 😉 His setbacks set him up for the most epic comeback. So did Mufasa and so will yours!
Be blessed!

Love the bow string analogy! That’s how I’m looking at my minor setback with my business.
